Why use a human, instead of AI?
AI is a very useful tool. It will correct many errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar. It will provide alternative words, and it will suggest how to write to your audience.
However, there are numerous aspects of language that AI does not work with successfully. AI can be inaccurate and is unreliable; it will not pick up all errors. It cannot apply a style guide, or work with a complicated brief.
AI cannot check that the correct font styles and sizes have been used correctly throughout. It cannot confirm that spacing between paragraphs is consistent. It does not check that all names, addresses, phone numbers and links are accurate and working.
AI will not verify that images are displayed as intended and that captions are correct. It cannot cross check facts and references. It may overlook inappropriate language.
AI does not comprehend human emotions or behaviour. It cannot evaluate opinions or judgements. It does not use the rich tapestry of language that brings writing to life.
This is why a human review is still essential.
